Until the advent of microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), the options for treating patients with mild to moderate glaucoma were limited to medication and laser therapy. Traditionally, ophthalmologists reserve trabeculectomy and tube shunt surgery for patients with advanced disease because of the rate of complications with these procedures. Surgeons have generally limited TSCPC and ECP to patients with intractable glaucoma and poor visual potential.

This video shows the technique that Dr. Patterson uses to perform the Kahook Dual Blade (New World Medical) alongside ECP. This allows for IOP reduction after cataract surgery. The video shows a side-by-side viewing to help aide in the way ECP is performed.

This procedure allows my patients with early glaucoma to benefit from refractive cataract surgery and a reduction of the burden of medication.
